I had been using the base coat from Orly for quite some time and was pretty happy with it. Then I came across Essie 3-way glaze which is more than a base coat. It has nail strengthening ingredients which help prevent nail chipping and give a smooth finish tot he nails.

I believe the secret ingredient in this product is Tosylamide/Formaldehyde resin. This is what I found on the web
" Tosylamide/Formaldehyde Resin is used in nail enamel products. It is a soft resin material which, in conjunction with nitrocellulose, forms tough, shiny and durable films on nails."
Essie 3-way Glaze - My Experience
The Essie 3-way glaze comes in a square shaped bottle and is a
clear polish as expected. There is
no fragrance and the
texture is thick and
non-glumpy.

I have used this on my nails for quite some time now and I am happy to see my long nails - after ages I have nails that I don't wish to chop off anytime soon! As a base coat it has
helped with the ridges on my nail surface,
prevents polish stains on the nails, and as a top coat it
enhances the life of the nail polish.
