This is a plaid nail art I tried over the weekend and when you look at the step by step pictures you'll notice how easy it is to do once you break it down into steps.

I chose a mint and pink color as my base and topped it with a purple to add some depth.

Begin by painting your nails in a base color.

Next add diagonal stripes - I have used the colors in alternate fashion on my nails. So while on the thumb I have a pink base and mint stripes, the first finger has a mint base with pink stripes.

Once done, add more stripes in the opposite diagonal direction as shown.

This is the basic plaid pattern done. Now we will add the purple stripes in between the pink and mint and finish off with dots on the intersections of the basic plaid.

This nail art can give a variety of results when you use different colors. I am waiting to try this out in a gray and maroon combination.
